The Independent Music Association in an Educational Association. Some of the information we present is in a well organized manner and sometimes in a chaotic fashion as we search to meet your learning situation.
 The business is constantly changing and in some ways stays the same. Having one foot in the past and one foot in the future can be challenging. Staying ahead of the learning curve is vital as well as the exchange of new ideas and revisiting some of the older tried and true basic concepts.
We'll tell you what has and has not worked for others and some of the new things the business is trying. Sometimes we'll even learn right along with you as we strive to stay relevant to the industry and the consumer in this process of discovery. |

It can't be argued that networking is probably the most vital key to success in the music industry. You have heard many times people say, "It's who you know."
However there are many other factors involved in networking to achieve its benefits. All the networking in the world will not benefit you and can also work against you if you do not meet the criteria below
- You must have a product that is exceptional and relevant.
- You must formally place your product in the right place, at the right time.
Networking should be a gradual natural process so as to not appear to look canned or artificial. Jump the gun or lack sincerity and quality products and people will run from you when they see you coming. Networking can work in your favor or turn against you.
If you are not sincere you will probably not last long as you cannot withstand the emotional challenges of the industry. You must also care about and respect the goals of those you are networking with. You must be mentally strong and be able to take criticism openly. After all, you're the one that is bringing your products to them. Be ready to adapt.
So networking requires balance. We'll help expose you to new opportunities and try to give you some etiquette along the way. |

Member/Clients are eligible to initiate Music Crisis Chats 24/7. Things can happen in the happy pursuit of music. Some of them aren't so great and can feel a bit overwhelming.
When music life gets that way, give us a holler using the Contact Us tab at the top of this page. Usually the problems are not as large a monster as they appear and we can talk you down.
Main thing is to have a plan and a path so that when it feels like a hurricane is blowing you off course, you have a well defined map to find your way back to where you were before all hell broke loose.

Action Plans are especially designed for each members particular environment. Utilizing a realistic, grass roots approach that fits your means and areas of operation. Togethere, within the association, we help formulate a tailored Indie Solution with specific written recommendations.
 The Action Plan serves as a guide utilizing the Step Level approach to the biz.
The IMA offers group support from our Advisors in the execution of your Action Plan.
Member/Clients are encouraged to start fresh, seriously evaluate themselves, their products and their approach. |
Yes we have Crisis Chats, Action Plans, Referral Service and giving Specific Answers to your Questions but sometimes nothing beats just telling you what we would do.
No politically correct gobble-t-goop here or beating around the bush. Who's got time for that in this business? Some times we just need to be reassured and told, "This is what I'd do... Do it!"
We're not running for reelection around here. Our job is to get you up and running. You can't see thru the forest but sometimes we can from our view of the woods. It you ask, we'll tell ya turn left here now or right there, ASAP!

When you can't pick thru the information any further and want to know something very specific about the biz, ask. For example, "Why does Lady Gaga wear a meat dress?" We'll tell ya! "To cover her loins!" |
